Overview and application of ferrite cores
Souce:Admin    Date:2017-04-27

Ferrite cores are mainly composed of 3 metal elements (Fe), manganese (Mn), and zinc (Zn), commonly known as Mn Zn ferrites. Because of the absence of air gap and the same cross-sectional area, the ferrite core is very high.

Ferrite magnetic ring has a very large number of specifications, according to the different material of the magnetic ring can be chosen, and can be used to simplify the winding of different coating and improve the breakdown voltage.

Ferrite core is a kind of non - metallic magnetic material which is made of dense and uniform structure. It consists of oxides of iron oxide (Fe2O3) and one or more other metals such as manganese, zinc, nickel, magnesium, or carbonates. Ferrite material by pressing, after 1300 C high temperature sintering machine, finally made to meet the application requirements of core products, compared to other types of magnetic materials, the advantages of ferrite is very high permeability, and high resistance and low eddy current loss and other advantages in the broad frequency range. These material properties make ferrite the ideal material for manufacturing high frequency transformers, broadband transformers, adjustable inductors and other high frequency circuits from 10kHz to 50MHz.

Select the range of ferrite is very wide, can according to the different magnetic parameters, choose different material and shape due to low magnetic loss at high frequency, which are widely used in switch mode power supply (SMPS), radio frequency (RF) transformer and inductor. Ferrite cores with various shapes and sizes are used in high frequency power supply and high quality communications market, inductors, pulse transformers, high frequency transformers, and noise filters. Ferrite is characterized by high permeability, good temperature characteristics, and low attenuation.

The difference between the nylon coating and the epoxy coating for ferrite cores: there is a similarity between the two. Nylon coating thick, can withstand temperatures up to 155oC. The rated temperature of epoxy coating is 200oC. Nylon coating is usually used in O.D. (outer diameter) with a magnetic core of 12.7 mm to 29 mm. Epoxy coatings are used for large and minimum cores. The breakdown voltage of nylon coating and epoxy coating is between 1000 volts, nylon buffer is better, and it is not easy to dissolve. Two coatings with the same electrical specifications.
